104 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will publish the report on male victims of domestic abuse completed in October 2000, in view of the fact that discussions with relevant State agencies were completed in January 2002; and if funding for services for male victims of domestic abuse will be provided also as a matter of urgency. I presume the Deputy refers to the draft report Men and Domestic Violence: What Research Tells Us which was commissioned from external consultants by my Department in collaboration with the North-Eastern Health Board. The draft report was presented to my Department in October 2000 and was then sent to relevant official agencies seeking their views.
As a number of issues were raised during this consultation process my Department has arranged for the document to be peer-reviewed. I will take a final decision as to the publication of the report when this process is complete.
