Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Departmental Expenditure.

Richard Bruton

Question:

352 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of money that remains available to his Department from the voted spending allocation agreed in the Revised Estimates 2002 to spend in the last quarter of 2002 for capital spending and for current spending; and the way in which this compares with the amount spent for current and for capital purposes in the last quarter of 2001. [18412/02]

The cash that remains available to my Department from the voted spending allocation agreed in the Revised Estimates 2002 for the last quarter of 2002 for capital spending is €225 million and for current spending is €1,811 million.

The amount spent in the last quarter of 2001 for capital spending was €128 million and for current spending was €1,801 million.

It should be noted, however, that the figures for 2001 include Supplementary Estimate funding of €30 million for capital spending and €199 million for current spending. As my Department is in discussions with the Department of Finance regarding a Supplementary Estimate for 2002, it is not yet possible to compare like with like.

Question No. 353 answered with Question No. 109.
