Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Question:

388 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give details of the water and sewerage schemes for County Mayo which are in his Department awaiting sanction for funding; the schemes which have been approved for funding in the last year; and the schemes which have commenced in this regard. [18017/02]

A copy is being sent to the Deputy of the list of water and sewerage schemes identified by Mayo County Council in response to my Department's request to each local authority to undertake a fresh assessment of the need for capital works in its area and to prepare a prioritised list of projects based on the assessment. This assessment is the council's most up to date and complete statement to my Department of its current water and sewerage infrastructure proposals.

Details of approved schemes in County Mayo are set out in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2002-04, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library. The most current information in relation to construction progress on individual schemes should be available from the contracting authority, Mayo County Council.
