Adjournment Debate. - Local Authority Housing.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

398 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the total amount of Exchequer funding which has been provided to Kerry County Council for housing to date in 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18202/02]

An allocation of €14 million for 2002 has been made by my Department to Kerry County Council in respect of the main local authority housing construction and acquisition programme, the provision of extensions to local authority houses and the undertaking of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing. The provision is funded by a combination of Exchequer capital grants of €10.8 million and internal capital receipts of €3.2 million. In addition, Exchequer capital funding of €200,000 and €50,000 has been allocated for Traveller accommodation and the remedial works scheme respectively.
