Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - RAPID Programme.

Fergus O'Dowd

Question:

408 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the situation regarding the RAPID programme; if any cuts are proposed; the financial situation regarding the programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18035/02]

As the Deputy will be aware, the RAPID programme is a focused initiative by the Government to target the most concentrated areas of disadvantage. Priority attention is given under the programme to tackling the concentration of poverty and social exclusion within the designated areas through front-loading State resources available under the national development plan. Allocations to RAPID projects will be made in the context of available NDP funding in Departments' annual budgets.

Question No. 409 answered with Question No. 405.
