Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Social Partnership.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

141 Ms Shortall asked the Taoiseach the commitment he will give to have the recognised bodies for the voluntary and co-operative housing sector involved in the social partnership representation pillars; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this sector is achieving a significant expansion and contributing to meeting Government housing targets, including those which were set for the sector in the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that this sector was not fully consulted during the last partnership agreement negotiations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18210/02]

The question of who will be participating in the talks on a possible new agreement to succeed the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness is currently under consideration. In this respect, I expect to issue invitations to the relevant social partners within the next few weeks. My own Department also exercises the main co-ordinating role for the overall implementation of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness, including the production of a detailed progress report for each PPF plenary meeting. The progress reports, copies of which are in the Oireachtas Library, set out, by each Department, the continuing good progress in implementing the ambitious economic, social and structural agenda set out in the programme.
