Vol. 555 No. 2

Adjournment Debate. - Price Fixing.

Martin Ferris

Question:

146 Mr. Ferris asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department will investigate whether the beef companies have been in breach of competition legislation in their concerted fixing of the price paid to farmers. [18271/02]

Investigation of allegations relating to anti-competitive practices in any sector of the economy is a matter for the Competition Authority under section 30 of the Competition Act, 2002. Any evidence of price fixing should be passed to the Competition Authority.
