Question:

155 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will make payment of 100% fixed ewe premium on 16 October 2002. [18005/02]

Payment of the 2002 ewe premium will commence on 16 October and this payment will consist of the full rate of €21 per eligible ewe plus an additional €7 supplementary ewe premium per eligible ewe for those farmers where at least 50% of their holdings are located in a disadvantaged area.

156 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, due to the crisis in agriculture, his Department will make 80% advance payment of all livestock premia on 16 October 2002, including the suckler cow, special beef and slaughter premia, as well as the beef national envelope payments. [18006/02]

The advance payments under all livestock premia schemes will be at the rate of 80% commencing on 16 October 2002. The national envelope payment of approx €22 per head under the slaughter premium scheme will also commence this week. The national envelope payments under the suckler cow scheme cannot commence until 2003 when the number of animals qualifying for payment will be established.
