Question:

348 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of community gardaí in Blanchardstown; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18917/02]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the allocation of resources to individual areas, that the current personnel strength of the Blanchardstown community policing unit is 20 – all ranks. I have been further advised that the current personnel strength of Blanchardstown Garda station is 127 – all ranks – and that all gardaí attached to Blanchardstown have a responsibility, inter alia, for dealing with community policing matters as they arise.
