406 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he will provide funding to upgrade the telephone communications services for Inishturk Island, in order that the islanders can access Internet and e-mail. [18981/02]
Primary responsibility for the provision of broadband lies with the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. Under the CLÁR programme, there have been ongoing discussions with that Department in relation to the extension of broadband to all CLÁR areas, including Inish turk. No final decisions have yet been made in relation to same.
