Vol. 555 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Willie Penrose

Question:

171 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the full list of successful applicants for grant aid under the stimulus fund; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19361/02]

Earlier this year, my Department invited research institutes to submit proposals for public good research projects to be considered for funding under the research stimulus fund, a sub-measure of the Productive Sector Operational Programme 2000-2006. Projects were required to be collaborative, involving at least two research institutes, with the aim of filling gaps in research activity in specified priority areas.

Sixty two projects were submitted for consideration. Following an evaluation process, 14 projects were selected for funding. I will announce details of the selected projects when all the contractual arrangements have been completed and I will copy the list to the Deputy.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

172 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason an area-based payment has not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [19362/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 27.83 hectares. The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area-based compensatory allowance scheme shortly.
