Vol. 556 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Phil Hogan

Question:

97 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Health and Children when the finance will be made available for the provision of a ten bed nursing unit at the District Hospital, Carlow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19602/02]

The provision of health services in Carlow is a matter for the South Eastern Health Board in the first instance. The board has submitted tenders to my Department and is awaiting approval to proceed with the construction of the ten bed nursing unit at Carlow District Hospital. This is being considered in the context of ongoing discussions between the board and my Department to progress individual projects under the national development plan.
