Question:

285 Mr. P. McGrath asked the Minister for Finance the rate of off-course betting tax for each of the past ten years; and the returns to the Exchequer on this tax for those years. [20061/02]

The following are the rates of off-course betting tax for the past ten years: the rate to 30 June 1999 was 10%; the rate from 1 July 1999 to 30 April 2002 was 5%; and the rate from 1 May 2002 was 2%. The yield from that tax for the past ten years is set out in the following table:
