Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Consultancy Contracts.

Denis Naughten

Question:

311 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his Department has at any time since June 1997, used the services of a company (details supplied); if so, the reason such a company was used; if this followed public procurement procedures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20002/02]

My Department, under Vote 39, international co-operation, procured the services of the company, details supplied, in mid November 1999. This concerned the recruitment of an accountant to replace, on an interim basis, the outgoing financial controller. In line with public procurement procedures, a competitive tendering process was followed. The post was subsequently filled through the normal recruitment channels of the Civil Service Commission.
