Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Enda Kenny

Question:

534 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that women in County Monaghan are at a severe disadvantage in attempting to access colposcopy services speedily in view of the fact that this service is no longer available at Monaghan General Hospital and there are lengthy waiting lists at the two alternative sites, Cavan General Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda; the steps he intends to take to rectify this extremely serious situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20146/02]

Responsibility for the provision of colposcopy services at Cavan General Hospital, Monaghan General Hospital and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, rests with the North-Eastern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, requested the chief executive officer of the health board to investigate the position in relation to the issues raised and to respond directly to the Deputy.
