Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Waste Management.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

648 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if any grants have been made or made available under the waste management environmental structures; if so, the relevant information on a county by county basis; if not already agreed, when he expects an announcement to be made; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19743/02]

A scheme of grant assistance to support capital investment in waste recycling and recovery infrastructure was launched earlier this year, and I intend very shortly to announce a first round of grant allocations thereunder.

In addition to this capital grants scheme, my Department provides grant assistance towards procurement and planning costs incurred by local authorities in respect of the provision of regional waste facilities under public private partnership arrangements. To date, one allocation totalling €8.25 million has been made to Dublin City Council in this regard.
