72 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Defence the position regarding the proposed sale of Department of Defence property at Gormanstown, County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20461/02]

Trevor Sargent

Question:

89 D'fhiafraigh Mr. Sargent den Aire Cosanta cad iad na pleananna atá aige do Champa Rinn Mhic Gormáin, Co. na Mí. [20450/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 72 and 89 together.

As I indicated in my reply to Question No. 125 on 17 April and to previous questions on this matter, the Government has decided to dispose of lands at Gormanston Camp, County Meath, to fund essential equipment purchases for the Defence Forces. The military camp area consisting of about 58 acres will be retained. The modalities and timing of the sale are under consideration.

Mar a léirigh mé i mo fhreagra ar Cheist Uimhir 125 ar an 17 Aibreán, agus i fhreagraí eile ar an ábhar seo roimhe sin, tá sé beartaithe agam roinnt talún a dhíol ag Campa Rinn Mhic Gormáin, Contae Na Mí, chun trealamh eisintiúil a cheannach do na Fórsaí Cosanta. Coinneofar limistéar an champa míleata ar a bhfuil tuairim is 58 acra talún. Tá módúlacht agus an uair a ndíolfar an talamh á bplé faoi láthair.
