78 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence if a contract has been signed for the planned improvements to the runaway at Baldonnel Aerodrome, as recommended in the recent consultant's report; when it is expected that the work will commence; when it is expected to be concluded; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A contract for the upgrade of the runways and taxiways at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel was signed on 26 June 2002. The duration of the contract was 24 weeks with an estimated finishing date of early December. Work is currently ahead of schedule, however, and is expected to finish in mid-November. The contract price was €6.3 million.
