Vol. 556 No. 5

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers.

Michael Ring

Question:

121 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for assessment by the disabled drivers medical board of appeal to progress an application under the disabled drivers and disabled passengers (tax concessions) scheme 1994. [20973/02]

My Department has no involvement in the operation of the disabled drivers medical board of appeal. However, I have made inquiries regarding the person concerned and have been informed that this person's request for an appeal was received on 26 April 2002. I understand from the board that the length of time a person waits to be assessed can vary from 12 to 18 months.
