158 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reasons for the delay in providing a hip operation for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow at Cappagh Hospital; if the operation will be expedited; the reason this person has been informed that it will take up to nine months; the number of people waiting for such an operation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of services for people living in County Carlow is a matter, in the first instance, for the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.
