Written Answers. - Food Industry.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

20 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the progress being made on the Agri-Food 2010 Plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20821/02]

In August 2000, I published the agri-food 2010 plan of action, designed to address the issues raised in the report of the agri-food 2010 committee. The plan contained 197 action points designed to bring about the visions set forth by the committee. Both the plan of action and the Department's statement of strategy 2001-04 contain a commitment to regularly monitor the implementation of the plan. The agri-food 2010 implementation report was published in December 2001 to follow up on this commitment. The implementation report set out the progress achieved on all action points. The report found that 94% of the action points had been completed or have seen substantial action undertaken. Further monitoring of these action points will be carried out in future on the basis of the commitment contained in the statement of strategy.
