Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Billy Timmins

Question:

170 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21864/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with no errors and an arable aid payment of €87,283.32 is due to issue to him on 16 November.

Michael Ring

Question:

171 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an extensification payment for 2001. [21882/02]

The person named participated in the 2001 extensification premium scheme opting for the simplified system. He undertook to maintain a stocking density on his holding to less than 1.60 livestock units per hectare for each and every day of 2001.

Under EU regulations, prior to payment, the Department is required to carry out CMMS based stocking density cross-checks to ensure that chosen stocking density limits are not breached. In this case, cross-checks were carried out at 1 June and 15 October 2001. Respective stocking densities of 1.7104 and 2.0757 livestock units per hectare were found at the dates in question and, accordingly, the person named has been found ineligible for 2001 extensification premium. In order that the person named can check the accuracy of the findings, arrangements have been made to issue to him, herd profiles detailing the tag number and date of birth of each bovine animal over the age of six months found per CMMS to have been present on the holding on 1 June and 15 October 2001.

Michael Ring

Question:

172 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive area based payments for 2002. [21883/02]

The person named included a parcel of land on his 2002 area aid application that related to a commonage. However, he failed to furnish proof of his entitlement to claim area aid in respect of this commonage and the area aid unit contacted him in this regard.

The herdowner has now submitted the relevant proof and his 2002 area aid application has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 58.65 hectares.

The person named will be paid his full entitlement under the 2002 area based compensatory allowance scheme shortly.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

173 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in making a REP scheme payment to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; when the balance of euro premium will be issued to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21902/02]

The REPS application from the person named was received in my Department on 30 September 2002 and processing is now complete. Payment will issue within the next two weeks. This falls well within the targets set down in the protocol on direct payments to farmers.

The person named was paid €21 per head under the 2002 ewe premium on 16 October 2002, but payment of the supplementary premium of €7 per head was delayed pending final processing of the 2002 area aid details. This processing has now been completed and payment will be made shortly.
