Vol. 557 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Denis Naughten

Question:

237 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason there is no special needs dentist in County Roscommon; the action he intends to take to address this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21791/02]

As the Deputy is aware, the provision of dental services to eligible persons in County Roscommon is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board in the first instance. The chief executive officer of the board has informed my Department that the vacant senior dental surgeon (special needs) post in Roscommon has been referred to the Local Appointments Commission for processing and a competition for it should be held in the near future.
