250 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Transport the legislation which exists regarding the qualifications required to become a driving instructor; his plans in the next six months to introduce new legislation creating or tightening the standards required to become such an instructor; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Section 18 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968, as amended by section 19 of the Road Traffic Act, 2002, provides for the regulation of driving instruction. In relation to my proposals in this area I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 139 on 10 October 2002.
