Vol. 557 No. 2

Written Answers. - Ministerial Meetings.

Dan Boyle

Question:

154 Mr. Boyle asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the reason her Minister of State recently met representatives of community and voluntary groups in Cork city, regarding intended changes to the operation of the community employment scheme, in the presence of an official from FÁS and four Deputies; and the reason no Opposition Deputies were informed of these meetings, despite having made several requests to the Minister of State to be available for such meetings. [21856/02]

My recent meeting with community and voluntary representatives, certain Dáil Deputies and FÁS was an informal meeting for the purpose of updating myself on local issues concerning the operation of community employment in the Cork area. It is my intention to hold similar meetings in other areas from time to time as suitable opportunities arise. I have noted the Deputy's interest in including Opposition Deputies in this process.
