Vol. 557 No. 3

Written Answers. - Affordable Housing Scheme.

Denis Naughten

Question:

236 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will review the income eligibility test for the affordable housing scheme in view of the fact that many applicants above the threshold of ?79,359 still cannot afford to buy a house; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22100/02]

The income limit for eligibility for the affordable housing scheme was revised and increased marginally to €32,000 for a single income household, with a pro rata increase to €80,000 for a dual income household, following the introduction of the euro on 1 January 2002. While there are no plans at present to revise the maximum income limit, my Department is keeping the terms of the scheme under review.
