Vol. 557 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Denis Naughten

Question:

246 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding an application for a water scheme (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22118/02]

The Arigna regional water supply scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2002-2004 to commence construction in 2003.

In July 2002, I approved a brief for the appointment of a client's representative to prepare a design review report and contract documents for this and a number of other schemes in the county being advanced as a grouped project.

David Stanton

Question:

247 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received a request from Cork County Council to fund a new water main to serve Ladysbridge, County Cork; the amount requested; the assistance he will make available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22127/02]

In response to the national water study, which involved a comprehensive national audit of public water supplies serving more than 5,000 consumers, my Department has invited local authorities to submit proposals for water conservation projects for funding under the water services investment programme. All responses submitted, including the proposal received from Cork County Council on 30 October 2002 to replace a leaking watermain from Castlemartyr to Ladysbridge, at an estimated cost of €250,000, are now being examined in my Department.
