Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Office Equipment.

Paudge Connolly

Question:

190 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Finance when computer equipment will be provided to those Deputies whose offices in Leinster House have been lacking this equipment since the general election. [22598/02]

The provision of computer equipment to Members is a matter for the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas. I understand however that Deputies who were elected in 2002 were contacted following their election and all who indicated a requirement were supplied with PC facilities pending completion of an EU tendering process by the office. The office intends to issue a second or upgraded replacement PC-printer as appropriate to those Members who require same and, in this respect, following EU procurement processes and approval of the Government Contracts Committee, contracts are now in place for supply of new equipment. The only supply tender awaiting GCC approval is for the supply of laptop PCs and the office understands this is being dealt with in the current week. All Deputies were issued with a requisition form for their new PC and printer requirements. Most Deputies have now replied and the first issue of additional equipment in respect of those replies received and clarified will commence this week.
