Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Seán Crowe

Question:

257 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the request by parents of children attending St. Killian's junior and senior school, Kingswood, Tallaght, Dublin 24, for a meeting with him to discuss their anxieties at the delay in providing a safe and healthy environment for pupils and staff at the school; and if so, he will agree to their request. [22577/02]

Architectural planning for a building project and refurbishment works at the school referred to by the Deputy is at an advanced stage. Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction in 2003 will be taken in the light of the allocations made for school building purposes and when all budgetary decisions have been taken by the Government. I will be announcing my expenditure programme in January. In the meantime, it is not possible to give any indication as to when construction will commence on individual projects. Because of prior commitments, I am not in a position to meet a delegation at present.
