Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Richard Bruton

Question:

259 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will meet a delegation from a school (details supplied) in Dublin 24 to discuss the situation concerning funding under the primary school building programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22625/02]

Architectural planning for a building project and refurbishment works at the school referred to by the Deputy is at an advanced stage. Decisions on projects proceeding to tender and construction in 2003 will be taken in the light of the allocations made for school building purposes and when all budgetary decisions have been taken by the Government. I will be announcing my expenditure programme in January. In the meantime, it is not possible to give an indication as to when construction will commence on individual projects. Because of prior commitments, I am not in a position to meet a delegation at present.
