Question:

320 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism the names of all organisations in the Lucan, Clondalkin, Palmerstown, Rathcoole, Saggart, Newcastle and Brittas areas of Dublin which applied for grant assistance under the national sports capital grants programme; the names of these organisations which actually received funding under the 2002 sports capital programme; the amounts of funding provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the national lottery funded sports capital programme administered by my Department, a total of 1,364 applications were received for the 2002 programme, 18 of which were located in the areas specified by the Deputy. Applications were assessed in accordance with detailed criteria as set out in the guidelines, terms and conditions for the programme. Provisional grant allocations were announced on 29 March 2002. The Department informed successful applicants by letter of requirements for drawing down their grants and also wrote to unsuccessful applicants enclosing a copy of the assessment of their application.

The following is a summary of the grant allocations made in respect of projects in the areas specified by the Deputy:

Five other applications – the Irish Hammer Circle, South Dublin County Council; Hermitage Park, South Dublin County Council; Willsbrook Park; South County Dublin Leisure Services Limited; and Slade Valley Golf Club – were unsuccessful.
