Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Swimming Pool Projects.

David Stanton

Question:

321 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism further to Question No. 173 of 6 November 2002, the additional information for the proposed swimming pool for Cobh, County Cork, requested by his Department; if he will allow the pool to be constructed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22617/02]

As indicated in my reply to Question No. 173 of 6 November 2002, contract documents for Cobh swimming pool have been approved. On the advice of our technical advisors in the Office of Public Works, the Department is awaiting the appointment of a pool operator, as envisaged by Cobh Town Council, before processing the Cobh application further. This is to ensure that any changes to the proposed facility required by the pool operator can be incorporated prior to approval of tenders. The proposal will be considered further on receipt of this additional information.
