Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Beverley Flynn

Question:

326 Ms Cooper-Flynn asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the proposed community nursing unit in Ballinrobe. [22158/02]

The provision of health services in the Mayo area is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. The board has informed my Department that it has identified a potential three acre site that is suitable for the location of a community nursing unit in Ballinrobe and that the site is being valued.

John McGuinness

Question:

327 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason an order granted by a Circuit Court judge (details supplied) on 29 January 2002 compelling the South-Eastern Health Board to carry out a section 47 report has not been acted upon; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that, in spite of numerous calls to the South-Eastern Health Board by the child's father (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, nothing has happened, and that the telephone calls have been ignored; if the report concerning a person (details supplied) which was to be presented to the judge in March 2002 will be prepared as a matter of urgency and lodged in the court without further delay; his views on this type of delay occurring in such an urgent case; and the safeguards he will insist upon to ensure such a delay will not happen again. [22159/02]

The Deputy will appreciate that it is not appropriate to comment in detail on individual cases such as this. However, the South-Eastern Health Board has informed me that vacancies in the board's clinical psychology department have presented it with difficulties in responding to requests such as the one outlined by the Deputy. The board is in the process of commissioning a private practitioner to undertake this work. The board regrets the delay in responding to such requests.
