Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Company Legislation.

Martin Ferris

Question:

146 Mr. Ferris asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if the trading practices of a company (details supplied) have been subject to examination by her Department; and if these practices were a contributory factor in the plant's failure. [22722/02]

I have no information on whether the trading practices of the company in question have contributed to the plant's failure. I have no proposals to undertake an examination of this company nor do I have any such powers. If the Deputy has any reason to believe that the company or officers of the company have breached the provisions of the Companies Acts, he should bring this information to the attention of the Director of Corporate Enforcement who has statutory responsibility for the investigation of such breaches.
