Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

156 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive an area based payment for 2002. [22214/02]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 231 of 5 November 2002, the person named is required to submit a grant of probate in order to establish his legal entitlement to grants claimed under schemes in 2002. His solicitors have confirmed that they will forward documents to my Department when they have been processed in the Circuit Court office.

Denis Naughten

Question:

157 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon did not receive a hardship grant for being locked up with tuberculosis; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22230/02]

The person concerned became eligible for payment of the hardship grant on 17 March 2002. On 26 March 2002 he sought and was given permission by the district veterinary office to buy in animals to his restricted holding. Under the rules of the scheme, eligibility for the hardship grant ceases from the date that permission to buy in is issued. The person concerned was therefore only eligible for payment from 17 March 2002 to 25 March 2002. The appropriate payment for this period has issued.

Seymour Crawford

Question:

160 Mr. Crawford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan will receive a suckler payment and area based payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22283/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 23.81 hectares. The person named was paid her full entitlement under the 2002 area based compensatory allowance scheme on 16 October 2002. The application under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme was signed by the son of the person named. A change of ownership of the herd number is currently in progress and my Department contacted the person named on 15 November 2002, requesting that she forward the legal documents required to put this change into effect. As soon as these legal documents are received my Department will transfer the herd number into the name of her son and the application under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme will be processed for payment.
