Vol. 557 No. 5

Written Answers. - Care of the Elderly.

Bernard Allen

Question:

211 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received a request for further funding from the Southern Health Board; and if he will grant a further allocation under the housing aid for the elderly scheme in view of the fact that the Southern Health Board has exhausted its funding of ?1.65 million received from his Department and the board cannot make further commitments. [22844/02]

A total of €1,349,579 for the operation of the scheme was allocated to the Southern Health Board for 2002, compared to €1,269,730 for 2001. I understand applications continue to be processed. The overall provision for the scheme in 2002 has been fully allocated by the task force who administer the scheme under the aegis of my Department and no additional funding is available in the current year.
