Vol. 557 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Costello – to ask the Minister if closed circuit television cameras will be installed in all Garda stations; (2) Deputy Finian McGrath – request for a debate on conditions at Beaumont Hospital; (3) Deputy Crawford – to urge the Minister to make sure that sufficient funds out of his massive budget be made available for subvention to the elderly and home help where necessary; and if he agrees that there should be a waiting list for subvention and home help; (4) Deputy Ó Snodaigh – the need for fundamental police reform in this State, at a minimum requiring the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to introduce legislation on an urgent basis providing for the standing down of the Garda Complaints Board and the establishment of an independent Garda Ombudsman and an independent policing board; (5) Deputy Stanton – to discuss the deepening dispute that exists between the Tánaiste and the former workers at IFI regarding pension funds and redundancy payments and the situation regarding the embargo on moving ammonia and other chemicals from the plant at Marino Point; and (6) Deputy O'Dowd – the need to contribute to the cost of the Ballymakenny cross route in Drogheda, County Louth.

The matters raised by Deputies Stanton, Crawford, Costello and Ó Snodaigh have been selected for discussion.
