Question:

John Bruton

Question:

125 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the starting date for works to be carried out at St. Peter's school in Dunboyne; the stage the contract work is at; if the contracts have been confirmed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22762/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 124 and 125 together.

While additional accommodation is required at St. Peter's school, Dunboyne, my Department already has an extensive post-primary school's building programme under way with a substantial financial commitment being carried forward into 2003. Accordingly, a decision regarding the appointment of a design team in this case must await the finalisation of the budgetary allocations for 2003.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

126 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science when he expects to give permission to go to tender to St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22765/02]

Architectural planning for a building project at St. Nessan's national school, Mungret, County Limerick is at an advanced stage. Decisions relating to the rate of progress to construction of individual projects will be taken in the light of the allocation made for school building purposes in the Estimates for 2003. In this context, I will publish details of the expenditure proposals in the new year. It is not possible at this point to say when construction will commence.
