207 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Transport if increases in charges to individuals, companies or groups have been sanctioned to be charged by agencies or units under the aegis of his Department; and the changes being made in absolute and percentage terms. [23099/02]
I have not sanctioned an increase in charges by agencies or units under the aegis of my Department. The Deputy will be aware that I have recently announced that I have granted the CIE group of companies, who are a statutory commercial State body, an increase of 9% to their fares. The CIE group are currently reviewing their range of fares in the context of the approved increase. It is anticipated that the increases will take effect in December.
