Vol. 557 No. 6

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Appeals.

Michael Ring

Question:

220 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs when an appeal for an old age non-contributory pension by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be finalised. [23034/02]

The question as to the entitlement of the person concerned to the pension currently in payment to him is under consideration in the light of information which he has furnished. A decision on this issue will be taken as soon as possible and he will be notified of the outcome.

Under social welfare legislation decisions in relation to claims must be made by deciding officers and appeals officers. These officers are statutorily appointed and I have no role in regard to making such decisions.
