350 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if the recent ruling by a British court that funding of community nursing homes in the absence of similar funding for private nursing homes was contrary to EU competition law, has implications for funding of private or public nursing homes here; his views on whether a similar finding would be made should a test case be taken here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I point out to the Deputy that the basis on which services for older people are funded varies significantly between the two countries. My Department, however, is studying the contents of the ruling to see what implications, if any, it might have for the funding of services here.
