Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Question:

365 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 1108 of 10 September 2002, if he will issue a reply without further delay; if he will establish a timeframe within which all health boards should reply; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23645/02]

As I outlined to the Deputy in my reply to his previous question on 9 October 2002, the determination of the eligibility of applicants to medical cards is, by legislation, the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the relevant health board, in this case the South-Eastern Health Board. The matter has once again been referred to him for an expeditious reply directly to the Deputy.
