Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Michael Ring

Question:

488 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be awarded and receive payment of an old age contributory pension. [23361/02]

The person concerned has insufficient Irish contributions to qualify for either the basic old age contributory pension or the special pre-1953 pension under Irish legislation.

As he was also insurably employed in the United Kingdom a request has been made to the British social security authorities to forward details of his UK contribution record. On receipt of this information his entitlement to an EU pro rata pension will be examined and he will be notified of the outcome. The position in this regard has been fully explained to him.

He is currently in receipt of a non-contributory pension of €14 per week plus a fuel allowance of €9. He is also in receipt of a British retirement pension.
