Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Minimum Wage.

Richard Bruton

Question:

160 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the arrangements made in sheltered employment settings regarding the rate of hourly payment; if the provisions of minimum wage apply in this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23261/02]

My Department, through FÁS, currently provides wage supports to seven enterprises which employ people with disabilities in sheltered settings. Arrangements regarding the hourly rate of pay for the employees are a matter for the enterprises concerned. However, all employees supported by my Department in those enterprises receive wages which comply with the National Minimum Wage Act, 2000.
