Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Pat Breen

Question:

177 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Clare has not received suckler cow premium and special beef premium; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23272/02]

The person named applied on eight animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme on 25 June 2002. An inspection of his herd was carried out on 16 July 2002. During this inspection it was found that two animals in his herd were not compliant with animal identification and registration requirements, resulting in a reduction penalty which will apply when balancing payments are made in the new year. My Department is now writing to the person named to advise him of his non-compliance with the requirements and will give him the opportunity of having this decision reviewed. His 2002 suckler cow premium application is now being processed for advance payment and this will issue to him shortly.

The person named applied on three animals under the 2002 special beef premium scheme on 2 April 2002. Advance payment totalling €360.00 has issued dated 25 November in respect of these three animals.
