Question:

73 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in a ten and 22 month payment for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24121/02]

The person named applied on 21 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme on 3 April 2002. An inspection of his herd was carried out on 3 July 2002 and his application is now being processed for 80% advance payment. Payment is expected to issue to him shortly. The person named submitted five applications in respect of EU special beef premium 2002 for a total of 70 animals. Some 80% advance payment issued in respect of the first four applications on 25 November 2002. Advance payment in respect of the November application will issue in February 2003 after completion of the two months retention period, subject to compliance with the scheme's terms and conditions.

Question:

74 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the 2002 suckler cow grant was not paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24122/02]

The 2002 area aid application of the person named has been fully processed with an area determined for payment purposes of 32.67 hectares.

The person named submitted two 2002 special beef premium applications as follows: four animals on 11 January 2002 and two animals on 16 September 2002. Advance payment will issue in respect of the January application shortly. September applications will be eligible for payment in December when the two month retention period is complete subject to compliance with the scheme's terms and conditions. Payments under the 2002 ewe premium, supplementary ewe premium, 2002 area based compensatory allowance scheme and the 80% advance under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme should be made to the person named shortly.
