274 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science his plans to provide additional funding to the National Youth Council of Ireland, in view of the fact that they suffered a cutback in real terms in the Estimates; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25035/02]

The grant-in-aid allocation for the youth work activities of the National Youth Council of Ireland in 2002 is €499,122, which represents a 3% increase over 2001. The financial provision for the council's activities in 2003 will be determined early in the new year.
