Vol. 558 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Martin Ferris

Question:

276 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education and Science when the money that was allocated for Kilconnaly School, Beale, Ballybunion, County Kerry, will be available. [25043/02]

I take it that the Deputy is referring to Kilconly national school, Ballybunion, County Kerry – Roll No. 18214S – and the proposed provision of additional accommodation at the school.

Architectural planning for this building project is at an advanced stage. I will be announcing my Department's expenditure proposals in January. It is not possible to say at this stage when individual projects will proceed to construction.

Question No. 277 answered with Question No. 146.

John Bruton

Question:

278 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science his plans to provide funding for Rathregan national school in order that the school can build the interim prefab to house resource teachers and students, which is urgently required as an interim measure in the school; when the funding will be granted, in view of the fact that the school has obtained planning permission and provided architectural drawings to allow the prefab to go ahead; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25046/02]

Tender documents for the provision of temporary accommodation have recently been received by my Department. Decisions on all projects proceeding in 2003 will be taken in the light of the relative priority of each individual project, taking into account the financial commitments to be met from existing projects and when all budgetary decisions have been taken by the Government in relation to the 2003 allocation for school buildings. I will be announcing my expenditure proposals for school buildings in the New Year.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

279 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the position regarding premises for a school (details supplied) in Dublin 11; the status of earlier plans to relocate this school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25149/02]

My Department has requested the Office of Public Works to seek possible alternative accommodation for the school referred to by the Deputy. When this report has been received my Department will be in further contact with the school authorities.
