330 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when approval will be granted in respect of construction of a dwelling by Carlow County Council in respect of persons (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25301/02]

Paul Kehoe

Question:

337 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason a rural dwelling at Carrigmore, Bagenalstown, County Carlow, already approved and site transferred, has been referred back to the county council for redesign and re-tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25120/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 330 and 337 together.

Carlow County Council submitted a proposal to my Department in August seeking approval to accept a tender for the construction of a rural house at Carrigmore, Bagenalstown. The council were informed on 26 November that it was not possible to give approval to the proposal given the high construction cost of the house. The authority was requested to re-examine the redesign of the dwelling with the object of effecting savings on cost and to seek new tenders for the house.
