Question:

277 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science when he will grant a meeting with the board of management of St. Mary's special school in Athlumney, with a view to providing replacement accommodation for the 18 students studying in Athlumney; if he will liaise with the Minister for Health and Children to ascertain under which Department the works will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25044/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 146 and 277 together.

My Department has already made a significant investment in providing alternative accommodation for this school at Johnstown, Navan. In view of the extensive nature of the building programme, my Department has no plans at present to initiate architectural planning for any further major building projects for the forseeable future.

In relation to the provision of health facilities at the Johnstown site, I have asked for a meeting to be set up between officials of the health board and the school to try and progress this matter.
